The information on this blog has been accumulated over several years; accept for the data I have researched since 2008. I am not a doctor. You need to research for yourself what is right for you.

I first became aware of the prostate and what it was used for along with the diagnose of prostate cancer in 1999. I had a (PSA) prostate specific antigen of 6.8 in 1995 and 15.2 in 1999. It was in 1999 that a biopsy was taken that confirmed cancer was in the prostate according to the urologist that performed the biopsy. When I say “prostate and what it was used for”, you could have ask me back in 1995 if I knew what the prostate was or is and I would not have been able to tell you. I was so ignorant. But I am sure many of you that are reading this are the same. Because of my cancer circumstance I now have some knowledge about many of the organs in my body after doing endless hours of research about the prostate. I now know there are several organs effected by the prostate directly and indirectly. The roll of testosterone plays a big part in our daily lives.

Most of our organs we don’t know anything about unless something goes wrong. We are born and we grow old and die of old age. I don’t think so. Human beings are amazing. As we grow older and the body begins to break down or deteriate most of us don’t pay any attention or listen to our bodies. When we go to the doctor for an examination and find that something is not right with our weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, prostate, breast, knee, hip, muscle, heart, joints, lungs, kidneys, and gallbladder, to name but a few. We go into a state of woe is me, as if how is it possible I could have this or that problem. Not even taking into consideration at the time how we have lived our lives. Have you smoked or are smoking? Have you tried drugs, illegal, over the counter or prescription? What are your eating habits? What kind of injuries have you had? What are your drinking habits? What kind of jobs/work have you done? What kind of exercise have we done or are doing? How old are you?

After I was told I had prostate cancer(PC), I was in shock and felt numb. Just as some of you have felt when you were told you have a physical problem, heart, breast, stomach, gallbladder, lung, liver, or kidney trouble; and the list goes on and on. The doctor and urologist suggested radical surgery on the prostate, cut it out, don’t wait. I told them I would get back with them later after I had done some research. At the time I was 60 years old and had no other problems, I thought. I bought several books about the prostate and cancer. I did research on my computer  2 to 4 hours everyday for about 6 months. I joined several email support groups. During the research, reading books, and  email support groups I started changing my life style. I retired in 2000, started eating only Asian food, stopped eating all western food, started using vitamins and supplements, drinking only filtered water, and stopped all alcohol consumption. I weighed around 185 pounds when I started changing my habits and in about one year I weighed 155 pounds.

I have had a bone scan. I have had several prostate exams. According to the doctors with the digital exam the prostate is soft and not enlarged. The last prostate exam was in 2008.

My PSA has gone up and down ranging between 6.8 through 64.0 and will continue to fluctuate because of age, activities, prostate, heart, and general health.

In 2007 I had a heart attack. A clot stopped the blood flow in the left artery and a stint was inserted. I have come back from the heart problem and I am jogging 3 miles every other day. I had not researched the effects of the prostate concerning the heart. I am now including my research for various factors concerning other organs associated with the prostate.

Since 1999 I have chosen “watchful waiting” and try to keep on top of all the changes related to my body. I am 70 and know that I can’t live forever but I will try to be as informed as possible about the changes my body experiences over time.
